OPINION: Gosh, that Richard Branson is a dag. His comment a couple of weeks back that New Zealand should swap its dairying land for cannabis crops had to be tongue in cheek.
No one in their right mind would support the production of a dangerous mind-altering drug over milk.
But plenty of people are not in their right mind. They want to see cannabis legalised. And they are finding political support among the Greens and Labour parties.
From a farming point of view, I can see the attraction. It is a crop that, by anecdotal evidence, seems relatively easy to grow and promises high (forgive the pun) returns on its investment.
