A 34-year-old-man will appear in court after police discovered a cannabis growing operation in the Waimate District.

Police discovered 69 cannabis plants at a property in Glenavy on Monday, making it the third cannabis growing operation discovered in South Canterbury in just over a month.

Sergeant Kevin Reynolds, of Waimate, said police executed a search warrant at a house in the town at about 10am.

“Police located 69 good quality cannabis plants growing in various locations at the property,” he said.
